Walking L™ respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains the types of information Walking L™ may access, collect, receive, store, or otherwise process, how that information may be used and shared, how certain information may be retained, and the choices available to you.

Walking L™ is a DBA of Jay Lowe Consulting LLC. Jay Lowe Consulting LLC owns and operates Walking L™ and is responsible for the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect and Process

Depending on the features you use, information you provide, and permissions you grant, Walking L™ may collect or process the following categories of information:

Account Information: Information associated with your account, such as your email address, display name, account identifier, authentication method, and information necessary to create, authenticate, maintain, and secure your account.
App and User-Provided Content: Shopping lists, list names, items, stores, shared-list information, preferences, usernames or display information, and other information you choose to provide through Walking L™.
Shared-List Information: Information concerning participation in shared lists, including information necessary to allow authorized users to create, join, manage, synchronize, or interact with shared lists.
Usage and Technical Information: Information related to app usage, device characteristics, operating system, app performance, errors, reliability, security, and interactions with Walking L™.
Location Information: Approximate or precise device location when you grant Walking L™ permission to use location-based functionality.
Notification Information: Information and device identifiers necessary to provide notifications, alerts, and related app functionality.
Subscription and Transaction-Related Information: Information necessary to determine subscription status, subscription tier or product, available features, service levels, applicable limits, entitlement status, and transaction-related identifiers or information made available by the applicable application store or payment platform. Walking L™ does not directly process or store complete payment-card information for purchases processed through Apple or Google.
Support and Communications Information: Information you provide when contacting Walking L™ for customer support, privacy requests, account assistance, complaints, reports, or other communications.
Security and Fraud-Prevention Information: Information reasonably necessary to detect, investigate, prevent, document, or respond to suspected fraud, unauthorized access, abuse, security incidents, payment or subscription circumvention, violations of our Terms of Service, or other prohibited or unlawful activity.

How We Use Information

Walking L™ may use information to:

Create, authenticate, maintain, and secure user accounts.
Provide, maintain, and synchronize shopping lists and shared-list functionality.
Allow authorized users to participate in and interact with shared lists.
Provide store and location-based functionality.
Provide nearby-store notifications and other requested notifications.
Administer subscriptions, subscription entitlements, service levels, features, and applicable usage limits.
Verify access to paid features and services.
Maintain, troubleshoot, test, secure, and improve Walking L™.
Detect, prevent, investigate, document, and respond to fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, payment or subscription circumvention, security incidents, and misuse of the service.
Enforce our Terms of Service and protect Walking L™, Jay Lowe Consulting LLC, our users, and others.
Respond to customer-support requests, privacy requests, complaints, disputes, and other communications.
Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Comply with applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, and application-store obligations.

Shared Lists and Information Visible to Other Users

Walking L™ is a collaborative service. Information that you intentionally provide to or through a shared list may be visible to other users who are authorized to participate in that list.

Depending on the features used and a participant’s role or permissions, authorized users may be able to view, add, modify, remove, or otherwise interact with information associated with a shared list.

You should not place sensitive personal information in a shared shopping list that you do not want other authorized list participants to see.

Location Information

Walking L™ may request access to your device’s approximate or precise location to provide location-based features, including store-related functionality and nearby-store notifications.

Certain location-based functionality may require access to location while Walking L™ is not actively displayed on your screen. Background location is used only when the appropriate permission has been granted and for enabled location-based functionality.

Location availability and accuracy may depend on your device, operating system, permissions, network connectivity, GPS availability, device settings, background-processing restrictions, and other factors outside Walking L™’s control.

You may control or revoke location permissions through your device settings at any time. Some location-based features may not function, or may function differently, if location access is disabled or restricted.

Notifications

Walking L™ may use notification services and related device information to provide requested app notifications and alerts.

You may control notification permissions through your device settings. Disabling notifications may prevent certain alerts or notification-based functionality from operating.

Notification delivery may also be affected by device settings, operating-system restrictions, network availability, third-party notification services, and other technical conditions.

Third-Party Services

Walking L™ relies on third-party service providers and platforms to operate and support certain features. These may include services provided by Google and Firebase, Apple, Meta/Facebook, application stores, authentication providers, mapping and location services, notification services, and other technology, hosting, or infrastructure providers.

These providers may receive or process information as reasonably necessary to provide their respective services. Their processing of information may also be governed by their own privacy policies, terms, and legal obligations.

Walking L™ seeks to use service providers in a manner consistent with applicable privacy, security, legal, and application-platform requirements.

Data Sharing and Sale of Personal Information

Walking L™ does not sell your personal information.

Walking L™ may disclose or make information available to service providers when reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, support, or provide Walking L™ and its features.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to:

Comply with applicable law, regulation, court order, subpoena, or other valid legal process.

Walking L™ may also use or disclose aggregated or de-identified information that is not reasonably associated with an identifiable individual.

Security, Fraud Prevention, and Investigations

Walking L™ may collect, preserve, review, and retain information reasonably necessary to investigate, detect, prevent, document, or respond to suspected fraud, unauthorized access, security incidents, abuse, payment or subscription circumvention, violations of our Terms of Service, or other prohibited or unlawful activity.

Where permitted by applicable law, relevant information may be retained after an account is restricted, suspended, terminated, or deleted when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, investigation, dispute resolution, enforcement of our agreements, protection of Walking L™, Jay Lowe Consulting LLC, our users or others, compliance with legal obligations, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

Information retained for these purposes will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the applicable purpose or as otherwise required or permitted by law.

Data Security

Walking L™ uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no application, electronic system, network, storage system, or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Walking L™ therefore cannot guarantee the absolute security of information.

Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their account credentials and should notify Walking L™ if they believe their account has been accessed or used without authorization.

Data Retention

Walking L™ retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and maintain the service, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, maintain security and operational requirements, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on the purpose for which the information is processed and applicable legal, security, operational, or contractual requirements.

Walking L™ may retain historical, aggregated, or de-identified information for analytical, operational, security, research, service-improvement, and legitimate business purposes, provided that such information is no longer reasonably associated with an identifiable user.

Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your Walking L™ account through the deletion functionality provided by Walking L™ or through the account-deletion resource available on the Walking L™ website.

When an account is deleted, personal information associated with the account will be deleted or de-identified as applicable, subject to information that Walking L™ is required or permitted to retain.

Certain information may be retained where reasonably necessary and permitted by applicable law for purposes including:

Security and fraud prevention.
Investigation of unauthorized access, abuse, or security incidents.
Investigation or documentation of payment or subscription circumvention.
Compliance with legal or regulatory obligations.
Transaction and financial recordkeeping obligations.
Resolution of disputes.
Enforcement of agreements.
Establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
Protection of Walking L™, Jay Lowe Consulting LLC, our users, or others.

Information retained for these purposes will not be retained longer than reasonably necessary for the applicable purpose unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Walking L™ may retain historical, aggregated, or de-identified information that is no longer reasonably associated with an identifiable user.

Account deletion does not necessarily delete information belonging to another user or information that has been independently provided, retained, or controlled by another authorized participant in a shared list.

Your Choices and Controls

Depending on your device, platform, and the features you use, you may:

Control or revoke location permissions through your device settings.
Control notification permissions through your device settings.
Choose whether to use certain optional app features.
Manage certain account information through Walking L™.
Request deletion of your Walking L™ account and associated personal information.
Contact Walking L™ regarding questions or requests concerning your personal information.

Revoking a permission may prevent the associated feature from functioning or may change how the feature operates.

Children’s Privacy

Walking L™ is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in violation of applicable law.

If applicable law requires parental or legal-guardian consent for a person to use Walking L™ or for personal information to be processed, Walking L™ may require that consent.

If we become aware that personal information from a child has been collected in a manner inconsistent with applicable requirements, we may take reasonable steps to delete the information, restrict the account, or otherwise address the situation as appropriate.

Parents or legal guardians who believe a child has provided personal information improperly may contact us using the information below.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Walking L™, our data practices, applicable law, regulatory requirements, application-store requirements, security needs, or other operational requirements.

When this Privacy Policy is updated, the Effective Date above will be revised.
